Game Mathematician, StackStudio

Role Overview

We are building the world's first Creator Casino: a creator-powered gaming network, operated by and for creators, where creators launch their own experiences, run drops and missions, and monetize original games, powered by an AI layer and programmable incentives designed for high-frequency sessions and measurable creator performance.

We believe the next great casino game mechanic won't come from a studio, it will be invented by a creator on this platform. For that to be possible, the mathematics behind every mechanic has to be sound, balanced and safe to ship at a volume no studio math team could review by hand. Turning expert game-math judgement into the models, constraints and validation logic that make that possible is the most exciting part of this role, and the single biggest reason it exists.

We're not hiring a game mathematician in the traditional sense. We're looking for the person who defines what mathematically sound means for every game this platform will ever generate, someone who designs the maths for our most important games personally, then builds that expertise into the rules, parameters and guardrails that let StackStudio's agents generate and adapt many more variants safely. You'll decide what's safe to vary, what must stay fixed, and what always needs your sign-off. You'll be accountable for mathematical quality and integrity, not for how many models you personally touch.

Responsibilities

Design and own math directly

  • Take early concepts and new mechanics from Product and Game Design and shape them into a mathematical structure: RTP and house edge, volatility, hit frequency, win distribution, feature odds and contribution, max-win and exposure.

  • Own the math for important games and novel mechanics end to end, including implementation validation and certification support.

Build the mathematical intelligence inside StackStudio

  • Convert proven game-math patterns into reusable model families and configurable frameworks that StackStudio's agents can generate and adapt from.

  • Define what agents are allowed to vary in a generated model, what must remain fixed, and which outputs always require human review before they ship.

  • Help design the automated checks that validate generated math: RTP, volatility, hit frequency, distribution, feature behaviour, max-win/exposure and known edge cases.

Supervise and improve the system

  • Review and challenge AI-generated math, especially novel mechanics, unusual outputs and edge cases that the automated checks flag or miss.

  • Work with Engineering and the AI team to improve the agents' mathematical tooling and guardrails as patterns of failure or opportunity emerge.

  • Track where the system's math is strong and where it still needs a human hand, and use that to decide what gets turned into a reusable framework next.

AI-Native Workflow and What We Expect

This isn't an AI engineering role. The scarce skill is real-money game-math judgement; what's different here is what you do with it. Instead of applying that judgement one game at a time, you'll encode it into the rules, constraints and validation logic that let StackStudio generate and test far more mathematical variants than a traditional studio could produce by hand, and you'll stay the final authority on whether any of it is sound. In practice that means:

  • Deciding what's safe for an agent to vary versus what must stay constrained, and building that into StackStudio's guardrails.

  • Defining and refining the validation logic that screens generated models before they reach you.

  • Using AI yourself to write and extend simulation code, explore mathematical variants quickly, and draft documentation, while keeping ownership of every judgement call.

  • Reviewing AI-generated math with a sceptical eye, particularly anything novel, and being comfortable saying no to output that doesn't hold up.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong applied probability, statistics and combinatorics, with a demonstrated ability to design (not only verify) math for real-money, RNG-based games.

  • A track record of taking a game concept through to a working, balanced math model: RTP, volatility, hit frequency, feature economics and max-win behaviour.

  • Comfortable writing your own code (Python, TypeScript or similar) to build models and run simulations.

  • Able to think in terms of parameters, constraints and rules, not just individual game outputs; you can see the pattern behind a model, not just the model itself.

  • Genuine openness to an AI-first workflow, including trusting AI to generate volume while you set the boundaries and check the results.

  • A clear communicator who can walk Product, Design and Engineering through mathematical trade-offs without losing them.

  • Comfortable operating with significant ownership on a small, fast-moving team, without a large studio structure around you.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing math for slots, instant-win, crash-style, or other RNG-based real-money games at a studio such as Relax Gaming, Hacksaw Gaming, Pragmatic Play, Play'n GO or similar.

  • Experience preparing PAR sheets or equivalent documentation and supporting certification with testing labs (e.g. GLI, BMM, iTech Labs).

  • Familiarity with cluster-pay, grid, or other non-traditional mechanic structures alongside classic reel slots.

  • Hands-on use of AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot) in a real modelling or simulation workflow.

  • Experience working across more than one regulatory market and its RTP/max-win requirements.

Location & Working Style

Full-time remote role. You'll work closely with Product, Game Design and Engineering on a small, AI-native team where ownership is high and structure is deliberately light.
